Join hands to help SA realise Madiba’s dream
Pietermaritzburg
SOUTH Africans are still recovering from the shock and horror of the inhumaneness between fellow South Africans and the destruction of property, lives and livelihoods.
I join conscience-driven citizens in condemning the loss of human life and belongings and the rising racial tensions. I pray that the law enforcement agencies will arrest all those who violated the law, and hold offenders accountable for their crimes.
Regrettably, some individuals and politicians are digging up existing barriers by using inflammatory language to stimulate more hate between human beings. As citizens of this beautiful country, we must not fall into the trap of these unscrupulous personalities. Instead, we must promote social justice, the rule of law, accountability, human rights, reconciliation, dialogue, and avoid escalating conflicts.
The waves of criminality should serve as a wake-up call to the government on its lack of providing essential human needs such as quality education, health care, housing, effective policing and, most importantly, creating job opportunities.
In order to complete Madiba’s dream of ubuntu and building a thriving Rainbow Nation, we need to stand together and build up. History will judge us by how well we use these defining moments to make South Africa a better place for all.
