One person died and at least 80 people were injured in pro-democracy protests in eSwatini yesterday. Pictures

@riotRT

Swati people will need counselling after the events of yesterday. It’s very traumatising. I cannot even work. Later today, I will go down to Mbabane area to donate blood to those in need. I am slowly breaking down.

There is a mass genocide happening in Swaziland and the international community’s silence is deafening. We will never forget.

@UBGK12

Swaziland remains one of the most brutal absolute monarchies on earth and the very last one in Africa. People there are being hunted like dogs for asking for their fundamental rights. This cannot be ignored any further, for the sake of a more stable Africa.

@danielmarven

The king of Swaziland has been on a throne while his people are struggling. Now revolution is unpacking and all borders of Swaziland will be closed. @sipu_Africanist

This is disappointing that in this day and age people are still subjected to such things. It is time the UN intervenes. This is a crime against humanity. SADC failed these people.

@mwelimasilela

The government of Swaziland will deny everything after their shooting spree. That is what they did when the unrest started last time. The deputy prime minister who was acting prime minister at the time said he knew nothing about people who have been killed. @ncontsi

SADC and AU officials are just as heartless as the king. They watch in silence as these citizens are being oppressed through violence. If this ever happened in South Africa should we expect the same silence? This should be worrying to all of us. Their silence should be a consent.

@NalediChirwa

If you are wondering, the calls for democracy in Swaziland are still ongoing and stronger than before. Children are involved. 80 primary and high schools are shut down. King Mswati is not sparing anyone. Please amplify the cries of our brothers and sisters.

@Suku_Sooks

One minute you are celebrating a friend’s career take off the next you are mourning a comrade, that is the sad reality of what is happening in Swaziland now. The internet has been shut down as police kill unarmed people. Love and strength to our people.

@Kujichaguilia

I just watched a video where officers shoot rounds of live bullets then pick up the shells so as not to leave any proof. A massacre is happening in Swaziland and they are trying to downplay the severity of these heinous crimes against humanity.
