History has shown we all need each other
COMETH DUBE-MAKHOLWA | Midrand
WE HAVE fought furiously for centuries against colonialism and apartheid, all based on racism, grounded mainly on physical differences and supposedly also on cognitive abilities.
Over securities, the oppressed masses have fought for emancipation from all forms of racism and oppression, which they hoped would find expression in democracy. Sadly, democracy in all the independent countries has proved to be illusive.
How long and how many times have we read about thousands of people from these liberated countries drowning in the Mediterranean sea after their overcrowded, dilapidated boats capsize while trying to escape extreme poverty arising from rampant corruption and looting perpetrated by those in government?
Animals, despite their differences, live a much more peaceful life. It is time for humanity to accept the differences endowed on us by Mother Nature, embrace one another, work together because history has proved that black, white, yellow and whatever colour: we need each other.
