MILLIONS BRACE FOR STORM
MILLIONS of Americans hunkered down as a major winter storm hit the eastern US with heavy snow and ice knocking power out for about 130 000 customers yesterday. The National Weather Service said the storm was bringing heavy snow, freezing rain and high winds, impacting the south-east and coastal mid-Atlantic before moving to New England and southern Canada. The storm spawned tornadoes in Florida and flooding in coastal areas. The storm is set to cause hurricane-force winds. |
