TO celebrate International Museum Month, the James Hall Museum of Transport is set to host the Creative Native Vintage Motor Show and Picnic on Saturday.

The outdoor motor show is a free event inviting Joburg’s car enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy a great experience and appreciate beautiful motor collections.

The chief curator of the James Hall Museum of Transport, Gaisang Sathekge, provided more details about the show.

“The Creative Native Vintage Motor Show and Picnic is an annual event that enhances the James Hall Museum of Transport. The museum has a collection of historic land transport that goes back to the last centuries. It focuses on the history of land transport in the City of Johannesburg. And we have a very expansive collection.

“This event gives an extension of what the museum offers, but we are now involving the public. We are inviting the public and the vintage car lovers and car enthusiasts,” she said.

A thrilling bus ride on the historic 1952 London bus will also be on offer.

This family fun day starts at 10am and ends at 6pm. It will include a vintage craft market, live bands and DJs and, in keeping with the theme of the day, vintage food trucks will be selling food and refreshments.

Artists who have been billed include an exciting line-up of some of Jozi’s top up-and-coming live bands and DJs, such as BCUC, The Charles Géne Suite, Kitchen Mess, Kamo Matsoso, DJ Mamthug, DJ SediSoul, DJs Nikita & TopNotch and DJ Tataplz.

The event at 193 Rosettenville Road, La Rochelle, Johannesburg, is free to the public, but visitors will need to register and redeem their free tickets on the Howler website, https://howler.co.za/creativenative Visitors are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets, cushions and chairs to enjoy the activities of the day in a relaxed environment.
