Coronation set for tomorrow

SOUTH Africans are counting down the hours to the big night when the top 10 finalists hope to be crowned Miss SA 2022.

The top 10 hopefuls facing off for the crown are: Anarzade Omar (Gauteng), Ayanda Thabethe (KwaZulu-Natal), Itumeleng Parage (Gauteng), Keaoleboga Nkashe (North West), Lebogang Mahlangu( Gauteng), Luvé Meyer (Western Cape), Luyanda Zuma (KwaZulu-Natal), Ndavi Nokeri (Limpopo), Pearl Ntshehi (Gauteng), and Tamsyn Jack ( Western Cape).

The coronation is set to take place tomorrow at Sun International’s flagship venue, the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.

The special evening promises to be a dazzling and entertainment-packed show. The event will see artists such as Boity, Elaine, Heavy K, Lloyiso, Makhadzi, Nadia Nakai, Ndoni and Rouge take the stage.

Former South African public protector, Thuli Madonsela, will join reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu of India, on this year’s Miss South Africa judging panel.

The all-female judging line-up also comprises influential personalities, including former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi (2019) and Miss World Rolene Strauss (2014), award-winning investigative journalist Devi Sankaree Govender, businesswoman and Miss South Africa 1990 Suzette van der Merwe and actor Thando Thabethe.

Radio host Anele Mdoda was announced as the host of the pageant with Moshe Ndiki taking over the red carpet.

Ndiki said he was elated to be hosting the red carpet.

“I am expecting nothing but the finest red carpet looks from our celebrity guests so those at home should expect everything that is glitz and glam.”

Whoever is crowned Miss SA 2022 will receive prizes and sponsorships worth more than R3 million when she takes over the crown from reigning Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane.

The new queen is set to collect R1m in cash from the Miss South Africa Organisation, as well as the use of a serviced apartment at the lavish Ellipse Waterfall developed by Tricolt and Attacq, for the year of her reign.

Located in the heart of Waterfall City, the apartment comes fully furnished by Superbalist, with homeware by Woolworths and blinds by Galaxy Blinds.

She will also get to drive a MercedesBenz C-Class Sedan during her reign.
