We never had time to heal from the past

Edenvale

OUR constitutional democracy was not built on a solid foundation but on shaky ground and a lie. Now, we are paying a heavy price of post-traumatic disorder.

Truth is, we never had adequate time to heal from the draconian laws of our violent past. We were and still are hurting.

The opening of our borders allowing the influx of foreign nationals, especially from our continent, exacerbated the situation.

They brought in their unresolved conflicts and violent histories as well.

We were all integrated into one nation, hoping things will sort themselves out.

The creation of the haves and have nots was plotted at a religious institution.

Blacks were recruited to clean up the NG Kerk and remove landmines of dog excrement from its property and paid meagre wages as labourers.

But they were not allowed to worship with their fellow whites. Simply because the God of whites didn’t approve of that.

This ungodliness culminated in the dominant master and servant relationships across the country.

To keep these bread and butter relations alive, daily racial attacks remain largely unreported.
