Ramaphosa lies on behalf of, and for, the ANC

Bloemfontein By Stephen Francis & Rico

ONE thing is certain, the president of South Africa lied to the public when he said all the money that was present during a robbery at his private farm was from the proceeds of the sales of wild animals.

But in this instance, it is also true that Cyril Ramaphosa did not take money from the state for his business.

The question then is for whom did the president amass foreign currency and from where?

This is what we should be concerned with, as the public, because this is what will lead us to view the Phala Phala issue in a responsible manner.

It is clear that Ramaphosa lied on behalf of the ANC and without any shame, and showed more concern for the ANC and loyalty to it than to the public which voted him into power.

Ramaphosa lied on behalf of the ANC because he is not the source of foreign currency found on his farm, but the ANC machinations are in fact the source; Ramaphosa is simply a steward of ANC immorality and it is this immorality that used the information that ANC and high-level security agents can only know to blackmail him.

This shows us the ANC body politic would rather use state security structures to control dynamics within the ANC than protect the public, and that the people’s will is less than their narrow objectives.

It is on these grounds that it is not righteous for Ramaphosa to be forced out of office. Ramaphosa has not been afforded an opportunity by his own party to govern effectively and fulfil his promises to the public.

Instead, he has spent the first term of his presidency in the ANC and government dealing with unelected ANC rogue elements and improving his chances of survival. KHOTSO K.D MOLEKO |
