Police Minister Bheki Cele trended on Twitter after announcing the latest crime statistics. This is how Twitt

@Mqadi99

Bheki Cele is telling lies saying the crime rate is dropping. If that is the case why are they increasing the number of their bodyguards?

@RenaldoGouws

Bheki Cele is the most useless minister this country has ever had. Almost 6 200 people were brutally murdered in the first 90 days of this year. At what point does Cyril Ramaphosa put South African lives above the ego of a person in a hat?

@Tshingana904

If 6 200 murders were committed, one would expect that 6 200 killers were arrested by the police. Does Bheki Cele ever give stats on the number of arrests? Accordingly, police have no control of people committing murder but can only arrest those suspected of murder.

@Sandile_Ace27

If only his resignation will push down the crime, then it will make sense for him to step down. The policy for crime prevention is failing SA. Resources are used more for things other than to fight crime.

@TonySto74753556

There is no correlation between age and competence or incompetence. You are either competent or incompetent whether you are 20+ or 50+. Bheki Cele is incompetent. He just does not have the mindset of a professional policeman with experience gained over decades.

@xigivangiva

My logic says to me, he is not killing people by himself and we know very well who kills and we are not doing anything to them. The fact is that removing him is not removing criminals.

It is honestly time to change the leadership. Bheki Cele must go! Police officers need lessons in attitude change. Crime labs need an overhaul. But, most important, Bheki Cele must go! He is most incompetent.

@GP_O11

This is just insane. A total of 521 Ukrainians have lost their lives in the same period Jan-Mar and this is a country at war. We have had 6300 murders in South Africa from between January to March. @Brettbenraphael

Love it when the ANC talks “tough” on GBV with this and yet retain Bheki Cele as police minister. Statistics show 10 500 rapes in three months, 15 000 women assaulted in the same period. Way to go guys!
