Ramaphosa has internal load shedding – always in dark

MAURICE CAMILLERI | Cape Town

HOW can President Cyril Ramaphosa be in the dark about the fact of what a Russian ship was doing at our naval base in Simon’s Town? Especially since the government has been courting the Russians and Chinese quite openly. Why would he have to have an inquiry by a special panel to be headed by a judge? Who is he trying to fool?

As a US president once said: “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.’’

This government seems to be immersed in innuendo.

There has been a lot of talk about whistle-blowers being protected, on the one hand, and, on the other, as in the De Ruyter case, after he has exposed the nefarious goings on at Eskom, all kinds of threats are made toward him, such as prosecuting him for revealing secrets and exposing certain malpractices.

The Western countries are fine for funding, investment and financial help.

The peace missions by African heads of state to Russia and Ukraine are pointless because the Russians invaded Ukraine with imperialistic intentions. They have already annexed three territories of Ukraine, which they have no intention of giving up.

South Africa was, during the Mandela years, the darling of the world and an investment destination. This view is fading fast, with the ambiguous and short-sighted attitude of our leaders. They have lost all moral compass.
